In the exciting ICC Cricket World Cup played at Headingley Leeds ground, Sri Lanka has defeated hosts England by 20 runs. Thanks to the excellent half-century of Angelo Mathews (83 not out), Sri Lanka had set a target of 233 against hosts England. Batting first, winning the toss, Sri Lanka, after recovering from a poor start, scored 232 runs for 9 wickets in 50 overs. In reply, England was all out for 212 runs in 47 overs. This is Sri Lanka's second win in this World Cup. Ben Stokes scored the most unbeaten 82 for England. In addition to them, Joe Root contributed 57 runs. For the visiting team, Lasith Malinga scored four, while Dhananjay De Silva took three and Isuru Udana smashed two wickets. Nuwan Pradeep got one wicket. This is England's second defeat in the tournament.

Chasing a target of 233 runs set by Sri Lanka, England were bundled out for 212 in 47 overs. This is Sri Lanka's second win in this World Cup.

For the visiting team, Lasith Malinga scored four, while Dhananjay De Silva took three and Isuru Udana smashed two wickets. Nuwan Pradeep got one wicket. Malinga was adjudged man of the match. Ben Stokes scored the most unbeaten 82 for England. Other than that, Joe Root contributed 57 runs.
Like Sri Lanka, England's start was poor and opener Jonny Bairstow returned to the pavilion without opening an account. He was lbw out by Malinga. The second setback to the hosts put on a total of 26. This time too, veteran Malinga gave the team a breakthrough, sending James Vince to the Pavilion with a personal score of 14.
After that, Joe Root teamed up with captain Eoin Morgan to handle the innings. They shared 47 runs. Isuru Udana, who was bowling superbly, broke the partnership before it was dangerous, he knocked Morgan out on a personal score of 21. Even after the captain left, Root continued his fight.

Root shared 54 runs with all-rounder Ben Stokes for the fourth wicket. However, Root also fell victim to Malinga. Jos Buttler, who was the only batsman to score 10 runs, was able to score only 10 runs.

Archer added to Sri Lanka's woes by sending Silva to the pavilion on a personal score of 29.
Archer also knocked out Thesara Pereira (2), who came to bat at No. 7, closing all avenues to reach the guest team's big score. Isuru Udana scored just six runs. His wicket was taken by Wood. Lasith Malinga (1) was made his third victim by Wood. He made Malinga clean bold. In addition to Mathews, fast bowler Nuwan Pradeep remained unbeaten on one run.
Earlier, Sri Lanka won the toss and elected to bat first. This is the sixth match between the two teams, but there is a ground-sky difference in performance.
