ICC WORLD CUP 2019: Shakib Al Hasan Considered a strong contender for Player of the Tournament

World number one all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has a tremendous form in the ICC World Cup. Shakib is in tremendous form at the moment and is doing a lot of wonder with both the ball and the bat. So far, he has played 6 matches in the tournament and has bowled 10 wickets with 476 runs. Bangladesh is yet to play 2 more matches.

In this ICC World Cup, Bangladesh's all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan's record is very effective. For the last time in the Cricket World Cup, an all-rounder had won the Man of the Tournament in 2011, Yuvraj Singh. Yuvraj had scored 362 runs in the entire tournament and also took 15 wickets. Prior to Yuvraj, the title was won by South Africa's Lance Klusener (281 runs and 17 wickets) in 1999 and Sanath Jayasuriya (221 runs and 7 wickets) in 1996. The player who received this award in 2 times (1996 and 2011) also took the World Cup trophy. South Africa reached the semifinals in 1999.

Bangladesh's Shakib Al-Hassan's record as an all-rounder in this ICC World Cup is the highest ever.  Shakib has played 6 matches so far and has scored 476 runs with 10 wickets. The Bangladesh team is still in the semi-finals and has 2 more matches to play. Experts looking at Bangladesh's all-rounder are treating him as a strong contender for the player of the tournament.

Bangladesh's legendary all-rounder is still on the lookout for another level. In Monday's match against Afghanistan, he also cracked 5 wickets with a half century. Shakib is the third player to perform this feat in the World Cup. Earlier, in the 1983 World Cup, Kapil Dev had done it and then India won the World Cup. In 2011, the same record was set by Yuvraj Singh against Ireland.

Against Australia: The team scored 12.31% in total runs but took no wickets 
Against Afghanistan: 19.5% scored by Shakib alone, 50% wickets in Shakib's bag 
Shakib's contribution to the team so far: 26.9% of the team's total runs and 22.2% wickets were bowled by Shakib alone.
